Since returning home we have shared our experience of Africa with many. It has been interesting to listen to the experience of their “safaris” compared to ours.
Ronnie had always assured us that our experience could not be compared to what else is available, and now that we have had that experience we have full appreciation of his words. The lodges we stayed were beyond expectations for comfort, hospitality, food and beauty.
Brunch in bush after a morning safari complete with checkered table cloths, mimosas, coffee and the always excellent food prepared by the wonderful lodge staff was a treat beyond compare. This, followed by an evening barbeque, also in the bush, was “icing on the cake” especially as we witnessed the hyenas come in to enjoy the scraps as we were leaving. The effort by the lodge staff was nothing short of remarkable.
The wildlife, wow! The private safaris allowed our group to have its own private viewing of the “Big 5”, Ugly 5 & most of the small 5. The river safari in Chobe, breathtaking.
When I compare our experience to others who did self guided safaris on paved roads, or those who have gone in convoy to view the wildlife, confirmed we had made the best decision in going with Ronnie & Dee.
Each day had its highlights and being with a great group of people made it that much more memorable. For Dawn and I, it was fascinating to have a leopard beside our land cruiser (very rare) and to witness the giraffes tower over us.
We are also grateful that when South Africa went into lockdown with the Covid-19 virus and we were unable to leave, Ronnie and Dee somehow found us private accommodation at an estate for 2 weeks while we waited for a repatriation flight. We can’t express our gratitude for this effort and how it helped to relax us in a potentially stressful environment.
Again, thank you Ronnie & Dee on being our hosts on a great life experience and the most memorable vacation we have ever had.
